Outsourcing is key to improved IT solutions

TriSystems, an IT consultancy, which has a turnover of £3.5 million and 35 staff, specialises in services to the insurance sector. It offers complete management of the specialised computers system of insurance firms in the City of London. It is a specialism that has helped it to grow 40 per cent in the past 3 years. TriSystems was set up in 1992 and exploits the fact that many businesses large and small are reluctant to employ dedicated IT staff because they constant retraining and move jobs often.

Jeff Ward, director of TriSystems, says "Outsourcing allows clients to reduce the number of specialists' skills kept on site and means [SMEs] are not shackled to the skills of in-house staff."
